April 26 2008: To all my DA friends, thank You for all your favs, and words of
support. On April 26th we traveled south. We arrived at the Nuclear power plant. We were quit a distance away. Then all of a sudden a truck came up on us fast. He jumped out carrying a large machine gun. He quickly told us we were on their property. There were no signs warning us, in fact a county highway goes right in front. We told him we weren't aware. He said well, "what are you doing?" We told him we were taking pictures. He told this wasn't allowed, even though their were no signs. He said, "pictures, huh" Tammie and I shook our heads very quickly, and started leaving. He responded, don't take anymore pics. We were in our car with engine started before he could finish. So, off we went, laughing down the road adrenaline wild. We then drove south to Holla Bend. It's a wildlife sanctuary. It originally was farm land by the Arkansas river, but the farmers were flooded out in 1926. The state took over and maintained. There are many features in this large area. The Arkansas river with sandy beaches, two small lakes, flatland forest, flat farm land. These areas are still used to grow crops,but not harvested. The are left for the wildlife to feed on. Also, there are large marshes on the road. We saw wildlife, hundreds of birds and waterfowl. We got lost near sundown, and the gates closed at 2130. We kept taking pics, then finally a sign showed up. Luckily we were on the right on of many. I am posting several of those pics. I have added so many deviations, I wanted too make sure the pics didn't get lost in the gallery; selfish self promotion? Yes it is. LOL. But, also I wanted to share the experience,
